You hear a lot about spa treatments at beauty salons these days.I think not everyone knows what the term “SPA” actually means or where it comes from.Here, I'm sharing something I myself recently learned.
The origin of the term "spa," which refers to whirlpool tubs equipped with their own water purification systems, is not entirely clear.Some interpret it as an abbreviation of the Latin maxim "sanus per aquam," which literally means "health through water." Others, however, trace the name to the Belgian town of Spa, where healing springs were discovered as early as the 14th century..To this day, the city remains a well-known health resort where one of the main methods of restoring people's health is hydrotherapy, or treatment with water.
