Where does the name Kolinsky Brush originate from?
The name originates from marten (sometimes called 'red marten') or rather from its fur. In the USA and Canada lives a specimen of marten called Kolinsky, in Poland called Kuna-Kłonka and in Russia (where marten’s population is the largest) sable. The last name became best know and widely used. Sable fur is prized for its softness and strength not only in fur industry. It is used to produce top-quality brushes for painters, artists and beauticians.
